Discovering wild flowers at St Mark’s Cautley

This morning, St Mark’s Church in Cautley welcomed visitors for a special Churches Count on Nature event. Guests were invited to explore the churchyard and discover the rich variety of wildflowers thriving in this peaceful and sacred space. It is amazing how much beauty there is in nature all around us when we look carefully!
The weather was kind, and recent rainfall had left the churchyard looking very green, and brimming with life. After enjoying a gentle wander among the flowers, visitors were welcomed into the church for tea and coffee, and a tempting selection of homemade cakes.
Many thanks to our churchwardens Maureen Hinch and Judith Bush for organising such a thoughtful and uplifting morning. Churches Count on Nature is part of the national Love Your Burial Ground Week, a celebration of the wildlife and heritage found in churchyards across the country.
