Chapel Anniversary & Farewell Thanksgiving Service for Low Smithy Chapel, Garsdale
This afternoon many gathered at Low Smithy Chapel to bid farewell to the building, as we held a final service on its Chapel Anniversary. The service which had been prepared with input from the regular Garsdale congregation included:
a sermon by Geoff Park, who grew up in the chapel
a history of the Chapel by Matt McVoy
prayers of thanksgiving by members of the congregation
music from Billy Thwaite and Janet and Andy Kay
memories of the Chapel led by Lyn Allen
prayers of intercession by Revd David Crouchley
a final blessing and commissioning by Superintendent Revd David Newlove
It was a full service with many excellent contributions, and we are grateful to everyone who came along and joined with us to thank God for his faithfulness over the years.
