Lent Course 2026: ‘God of Surprises’ by Gerard W. Hughes
A Lent Course is a time for study and preparation in the spiritual life, which is done in community, seeking to care for one another. It is part of the discipline of Lent, of tending to the garden of our souls, so that we might be ready to grow in faith and love as the celebration of Easter approaches. Our Lent course runs for five consecutive weeks, full details are below.
God of Surprises
This year, we will be reading and learning from ‘God of Surprises’ by Gerard W. Hughes. It is a book rooted in Ignatian spirituality which explores how God meets people in life, especially in moments of uncertainty, challenge, and change.
You don’t need to sign up for our Lent course, just come along to the first session. Please read Chapter 1 ‘Where Your Treasure Is’ and Chapter 2 ‘Clearing the Approaches’ in preparation for the first session.
Times and Venues
Monday Afternoon Group: 2pm at St Andrew’s Church, Sedbergh. Starting 23rd February and running for five weeks.
Tuesday Evening Group: 7.30pm at The Vicarage, 20 Winfield Road, Sedbergh. Starting 24th February and running for five weeks.
Thursday Evening Group: 7pm at the White House, Dent. Starting 26th February and running for five weeks.
