Hawes Junction Chapel marks 150 years
On Sunday 3 May 2026, a large congregation gathered at Hawes Junction Methodist Chapel to celebrate its 150th anniversary, filling the chapel to capacity. The service was led by the Revd Dr Richard Teal, with music provided by the Hawes Silver Band, and prayers led by the Revd Andy Burgess.
In his address, Richard reflected on the chapel’s rich heritage, drawing parallels between the building of the Settle–Carlisle railway and the faith, perseverance, and shared purpose of the worshipping community.
The celebration continued afterwards with a generous tea, including a special anniversary cake enjoyed by all. Our thanks go to steward Andy Souter for his work in bringing the event together.
