Blessings for Same-Sex Marriages and Civil Partnerships in The Parish of Sedbergh and Lune

You may have heard that recently the Bishops of the Church of England put forward a proposal to enable the blessing of same-sex marriages and civil partnerships in our churches. I am glad to say that at its most recent meeting, Sedbergh and Lune PCC voted overwhelmingly in favour of this proposal, and has released the following statement:

Sedbergh and Lune PCC welcomes the bishops’ proposal to offer blessings in our churches to those in same-sex marriages or civil partnerships. We aim to be welcoming and hospitable to all, regardless of ethnicity, gender, sexuality, or background. We look forward to hearing more from the bishops about when we will be able to celebrate these thanksgiving services in our churches. Sedbergh and Lune PCC.

This means that in the near future, couples seeking prayers of blessing and thanksgiving upon their marriage or civil partnership will receive a warm welcome at St Andrew’s Sedbergh, and the other churches in our Parish. If you would like to hear more about what this might mean for you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch using my contact details below.
